Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters 3D (2013)

>Tommy Wirkolan huikea uudelleentulkinta klassikkosadusta. Pääosassa Jeremy Renner (Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Gemma Arterton (007 Quantum of Solace) sekä suomalainen Pihla Viitala (Käsky).

Lapsuuden veristen kauhukokemusten riivaamat Hannu (Renner) ja Kerttu (Arterton) ovat aikuisina ottaneet oikeuden omiin käsiinsä. Koston sokaisemina he ajautuvat itse jahdatuiksi ja joutuvat todellisen pahuuden kohteeksi, kun menneisyyden haamut koituvat kohtalokkaammiksi kuin yksikään metsän noidista.

Hannu ja Kerttu on tyypillinen tämän päivän digikohelluselokuva. Selkeästi teinien rahastamismielessä kokoonkasattu tehostepläjäys. Onneksi elokuvaa ei ole tehty turhan vakavasti, vaan vedetään noitien lahtaus sopivasti yli. Onneksi ohjaaja on myös tajunnut tehdä elokuvasta sopivan lyhen, ettei veriroiskeiden ja suolenpätkien katsominen ehdi tuntua pitkässtyttävältä. Kyllähän tässä vedetään yli melko ronskisti ja mutkat suoritaan melko helpoiksi, mutta ei tästä tämän kummepaa olisi saanutkaan. Elokuvan tarina on sen verran ohut, että kovin kummoista käsikirjoitusta tähän on tuskin tarvittu, melkein tuntuu että käsikirjoitus on ollut sivun pituinen kuvaus millä kaikilla tavoilla noitia lahdataan. Otetaan siihen sivuun pieni lainaus Grimmin saduista, niin saadaan sopiva soppa, jolla rahastetaan teinejä. 3D:tä käytetään turhan selkeästi pelkästään katsojien kasvoille sohimiseen ja roiskimiseen ja sitä olisi voinut hyödyntää paremminkin elokuvan tehokeinona, nyt se tuntuu hieman turhalta ja tarkoituksenmukaiselta rahastuksen maksimoinnilta. Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton ja Pihla Viitala vetävät roolinsa sopivan liioittelevaa sävyyn, jotta tarina ei tunnu liian vakavalta. Ihan katsottava elokuva, mikäli ei ota tarinaa turhan vakavasti. Paljon poppareita ja limua mukaan, niin kyllä tämän katsoo paremman puutteessa.

The siblings Hansel and Gretel are left alone in the woods by their father and captured by a dark witch in a candy house. However they kill the witch and escape from the spot. Years later, the orphans have become famous witch hunters. When eleven children go missing in a small village, the Mayor summons Hansel and Gretel to rescue them, and they save the red haired Mina from the local sheriff that wants to burn her accusing Mina of witchcraft. Soon they discover that the Blood Moon will approach in three days and the powerful dark witch Muriel is the responsible for the abduction of children. She intends to use the children together with a secret ingredient in a Sabbath to make the coven of witches protected against the fire. Meanwhile Hansel and Gretel disclose secrets about their parents.

Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters is very typical digital effect movie. Made simply for teenagers to get their money. Thanks for the director to make it little over and not too seriously. One and half hour is more than enough to watch this bloodspill and intestine blowing. Script is so thin that it feels like one page long, just enough to tell how many ways you con kill witches. Just add some names from Grimm fairy tale and you have a script to get teenagers to to watch this. Using of 3D is clearly used just to poke and splash things to wiewers face. It could have been use more effective way, now it just feels to maximise money collecting. Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Pihla Viitala makes their roles suitably over so the story don’t feel too simply. Watchable movie if you have enough popcorn and soda with you, nothing more or nothing less.
