Kun ensimmäisen kerran näin tämän elokuvan vuonna 1999, piti silloin matkstaa Australiaan katsomaan se jotta näkisin sen ensimmäisten joukossa. Itse asiassa kyllä katsoin elokuvan Australian Sydneyssä, mutta se johtui vain siitä että satuttiin olemaan lomamatkalla Australiassa. Olihan se jännä mennä elokuvasaliin ja kun ensimmäiset tahdit tunnusmusiikista kajahtivat oli jännitys korkealla. Elokuvan loputtua oli hieman tyhjä olo. Ei oikein ollut sitä mitä oli odottanut. Onneksi kaksi seuraavaa elokuvaa hieman kompensoi pettymystä. Tuosta hetkestä on lähes kolmetoista vuotta ja kyseisen elokuvan pariin en muistaakseni ole palannut ennenkuin nyt, ainakaan en ole kokonaan paneutunut siihen uudelleen. No kannattiko palata nyt ja oliko elokuvan päivitys onnistunut. Yhdellä sanalla kyllä. Vaikka elokuvan tarina ei ole muuksi muuttunut ja vaikka se on edelleen yhtä naiivi tuo kuitenkin 3D tekniikka siihen uutta syvyyttä. Kelkkakisa on ihan upeaa katsottavaa ja avaruusmaisemat hienoja, puhumattakaan Naboon maisemista. Jotenkin elokuva näytti nyt siltä, kuin sen ehkä oli alunperin tarkoituskin. Vaikka tämä elokuva on sarjan ehkä huonoin on se kuitenkin petrannut kummasti ja sen katsoi turhia vaivaantumatta. Toivottavasti myös seuraavat päivitykset tuovat samanlaista syvyyttä tarinoihin, niin niistä ehkä voi oikeastikkin nauttia ja elokuvien uudelleenrahastus on anteeksiannettavaa ja hyväksyttävää.

The evil Trade Federation, led by Nute Gunray is planning to take over the peaceful world of Naboo. Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to confront the leaders.
