The Expendables 2 (2012)

Church (Bruce Willis) kokoaa Expendables-porukan kasaan helpolta vaikuttavaa tehtävää varten.

Keikan pitäisi olla pala kakkua Barneylle ja hänen palkkasotureilleen: Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) ja Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) – sekä uudet vahvistukset Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) ja Maggie (Yu Nan). Mutta asiat alkavat mennä pieleen, kun yksi heidän omistaan tapetaan julmalla tavalla.

Expendables-porukka lähtee hakemaan kostoa. Ylivoimaisen vahvan vihollisen maaperällä ryhmä kokoaa rivinsä ja lähtee hyökkäykseen. Viime tingassa porukan onnistuu napata vihollisleiristä kuusi kiloa plutoniumia – riittävästi räjähdettä muuttamaan maailmaa. Mutta jättiläispommit kalpenevat sen rinnalla, mikä odottaa häijyä vihollista, joka surmasi yhden sotureista.

The Expendables 2 on tarpeeksi huono elokuva ollakseen hyvä elokuva. Elokuvassa on tarpeeksi itseironiaa ja se lyö tarpeeksi yli ollakseen hauska elokuva. Onneksi myös näyttelijät ovat tiedostaneet asian ja näyttelevät roolinsa sen mukaisesti. Hahmot heittelevät toistensa tunnetuksia tekemiä repliikkejä ja ampuvat ja räjäyttelevät pommeja enemmän kuin tarpeeksi. Onneksi elokuva on tajuttu tehdä sopivan kepeäksi, eikä tehdä hommasta liian tiukkapipoista. Elokuva nauraa itselleen ja hahmoilleen ja pitää tämän riman tarpeaksi korkealla. Katsoja saa koko rahan edestä vauhtia ja räjäytyksiä ja hyvä niin. Ei tällä Oscareita voiteta, mutta testosteronin katkun voi tuntea vielä elokuvan päätyttyäkin. Räminää ja räiskettä koko rahan edestä. Stallonen ja Schwarzeneggerin museo vitsi kolahtaa hauskasti. Jos jatkoa seuraa, olisi kiva saada Vin Diesel mukaan rymistelyyn.

Barney Ross is approached by CIA man Church, who wants him and his guns for hire to go to the former Soviet Union to retrieve something that was on a plane that crashed. Church doesn’t tell him what he is getting. And Church sends a woman, Maggie with him to make sure he gets it. They find the plane and get the thing but some men take one of Barney’s people hostage and the leader tells him to give him what they got or he’ll kill his hostage. The give it to him but he kills his hostage anyway. Barney asks Maggie what was so important about that thing. She says that it showed the location of a Russian plutonium storage mine. Barney decides to track the man down and deal with him. They track them down and discover that the man they seek is Vilain who leads a group known as The Sangs and that they have taken all the men from the surrounding villages to work the mine.

The Expendables 2 is bad enough to be a good movie. It has enough self-irony to be a funny movie. Nice to see that the actors realise that too and make they roles that way. There is more than enough stupid jokes, shooting and exploding things. It is good that the film has done this way and it is not too hard for itself. Audience will get enough action, blood , shootings and explodes to cover the movie ticket price and thats fine. You wont get Oscars with this movie and there is no need to watch it second time, so go and see it at movies. Stallones and Schwarzeneggers museum joke is fun to make you laugh. If there will be third installment I hope they get Vin Diesel in to it.
