The Host (2013)

>Näkymättömät tunkeilijat ovat valloittaneet maapallon ja sen asukkaat. Vieraat tunkeutuvat ihmisten pään sisään, valtaavat ensin ruumiin ja varastavat lopulta sielun. Ihmiskunta on jo lähestulkoon tuhoutunut, jäljellä on vain muutama sinnikäs vastarintaliikkeen taistelija, hekin pakotettuina elämään paeten.

Yksi näistä pakoilijoista on Melanie Stryder. Hänet saadaan kiinni ja luovutetaan tunkeutujalle, jota kutsutaan Vaeltajaksi. Ennen Melanieen siirtymistä tunkeutuja on asunut muilla planeetoilla ja ollut osa muita olioita. Häntä on varoitettu ihmisenä elämisen haasteista, tunnekuohuista ja muistoista. Melanien mieli on vahva: hän kieltäytyy luovuttamasta mieltään tunkeilijalle ja haihtumasta pois.

Vaeltaja yrittää selailla Melanien ajatuksia toivoen pääsevänsä muiden pakoilevien ihmisten jäljille. Melanie kamppailee vastaan. Hänen muistoistaan tulee Vaeltajan muistoja, ikävästään tämänkin ikävää. Vaeltaja ei enää erota itseään Melanien haluista, joten hänkin alkaa kaivata miestä, jota Melanie ei voi unohtaa. Melaniesta ja Vaeltajasta tulee tahtomattaan liittolaiset, kun he lähtevät vaaroja uhmaten etsimään miestä, jota he kumpikin rakastavat.

Stephenie Meyerin suosittuun kirjasarjaan perustuvan elokuvan on ohjannut Andrew Niccol (In Time).

En muista milloin olisin ollut näin kyllästynyt elokuvan aikana kuin tämän parissa, tai hetkinen, taidankin muistaa,Twilight elokuvan parissa. Ai minkä niistä? Kaikkien. Tarinan kirjoittajalla taitaa olla ollut tässä sopassa muutakin tekemistä, kuin vain tuottaminen ja alkuperäinen tarina, niin täynnä kaikkea vastenmielisintä Meyer höttöä tämä tekele on. Elokuva tuntuu lähinnä vitsiltä, kun päähenkilön pään sisällä kaksi henkilöä keskustelee keskenään. Dialogi on vaivaannuttavaa ja kliseistä. Näytteleminen on ala-arvoista. Henkilöhahmot täysin sieluttomia puhuvia päitä. Ei uskoisi, että elokuvan ohjaaja Andrew Niccol on aiemmin ohjannut sellaisen scifi klassikon kuin Gattaca. Ehkä Meyerin piru on sitonut ohjaajan kädet ja täyttänyt elokuvan kaikilla mahdollisilla Meyer tavaramerkin kliseillä. Ainoa hyvä tässä on, ettei sitä ole jaettu kahteen, tai kolmeen osaan, silloin tämä olisi ollut, jos mahdollista vieläkin puuduttavampi teiniangstikeitos. Varmaan tämä uppoaa Twilight faneille, mutta itse olisin voinut kiertää tekeleen kyllä kaukaa. Kaksi tuntia tällaista tuotosta on yksinkertaisesti liikaa. Tunti ja vartti olisi riittänyt mainiosti.

A race of aliens who are non corporeal go from planet to planet looking for hosts. They come to Earth and basically take over human bodies. Now it’s believed that once they take over a body all memories of the previous inhabitant are gone. And there are some humans who have remain hidden from them and are basically a resistance movement. So an alien charged with locating them known as the Seeker captures one of them a girl named Melanie and puts one of them who is known as Wanderer in her body, in hopes of finding out where the humans are. But Melanie for some reason is still there and she convinces Wanderer not to say anything to Seeker. Wanderer feels empathy for the humans. When Seeker is disappointed at her lack of progress, she informs Wanderer that she’ll be removed and placed in a new host and she will be placed in Melanie. Melanie knowing she can’t convince her the way she convinced Wanderer convinces Wsnderer to run away and they can meet with the humans. Eventually they find…

I can’t remember when I have been as bored at the movies, like I was with this one. Or maybye I do, with the twilight movie, wich one of them? All of them. Probably miss (or mrs.) Meyer has something to do with it. Not just original story and producing the movie is so full of disgusting Meyer shit in it. It feels mostly a joke. That stupid discussion between two persons inside Melanies head is mostly embrassed. Dialogue is stupid and cliche. Acting is so poor and the people are just empty talking heads. I can’t belive that director Andrew Niccol has directed such a great scifi classic like Gattaga. Mabye Meyer has tied his hands and fullfilled the movie with all that Meyer francishe crap. Only good thing here is, that they didn’t share this into a two or three movies, like they did with the Twilight saga. Then this could be probably if possible even more bored teenage angst. If you like Twilight movies, you may like this. For me it would be better to avoid any Meyer productions in future. Two hour is simply too much this kind of shit.
