Caesarin johtama kasvava joukko geneettisesti muunneltuja apinoita kohtaa todellisen uhan, kun tappavasta virustartunnasta selvinneet ihmiset nousevat vastarintaan. Apinat ja ihmiset saavuttavat hauraan rauhan, jonka rikkouduttua osapuolet ajautuvat sotaan koko maapallon herruudesta.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on loistava elokuva. Se on Hollywoodilaisittain yllättävänkin synkkä ja painostava elokuva. Elokuvan pessimistinen luonne tuo elokuvalle synkän leiman, eikä paljon anna toivoa rauhasta. Elokuva on visuaalisesti loistava ja nerokas. Olisi ehkä ollut parempi kuitenkin katsoa 2D:nä, sillä pimeät kohtaukset tahtovat jäädä turhan tummiksi 3D lasien takia. Myöskään 3D ei taaskaan ole juuri hyödynnetty muutoin, kuin stereografisen kuvan luomiseksi. Se onkin oikeastaan ainoa asia, minkä takia en voi elokuvalle antaa täysiä pisteitä. Apinat on animoitu loistavasti pienimpiä yksityiskohtia myöten. Andy Serkis on loistava Ceasarina, eikä muukaan näyttelijäkaarti ole huono. Elokuva kasvaa Ceasarin roolin mukana eeppisiin mittasuhteisiin, eikä elokuva loppu anna toivoa paremmasta. Toisaalta sehän jo tiedetään etukäteenkin, että apinat tulevat syrjäyttämään lopulta ihmiset planeetalla. Myös ihmishahmot ovat yllättävänkin kiinnostavia, varsinkin Gary Oldmanin suoritus Dreyfusin roolissa on loistava. Elokuva on lähes täydellinen kesäelokuva ja laadukkaana dystopiana voin suositella sitä kaikille katsojille. Matt Reeves on ohjannut loistavan Apinoiden planeetta elokuvan ja on ilo kuulla, että hän työstää jo seuraavaa jatko-osaa. Sitä odotellessa nautitaan tästä elokuvasta.

They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a brilliant movie. As a Hollywood movie it is a surprisingly dark and brooding movie. Movies pessimistic temper makes this movie so dark and won’t give much of hope for peace. Movie is visually stunning and clever. It is might be better to watch as 2D, because 3D glasses makes it almost too dim to watch. Once again 3D has not exploited enough. Just to bring a stereographic images are not enough. That is perhaps only reason I can’t give full five stars to this movie. Apes are animated beautifully and elaborated. Andy Serkis is brilliant as a Caesar. Movie grows epic with Caesar’s character. Even human characters are interesting, especially Gary Oldman as Dreyfus. Matt Reeves has made a perfect summer block buster movie and it is nice to know that he already works with a sequel. There is a something to wait for and until that let’s enjoy this movie.
